Swissone asked.
With what you know now, If you had to by a plow for contractor use what brand and make would you buy now?. I like the pivot point on the western Uni-mount system for scrapping, but have heard while transporting the plow on bumpy roads the chain has been known to break. Also how do you transport the snow-way if the hydraulics fail?[/quote]

Swissone- Personally, I am still partial to Sno-Way. They come with a separate steel brace to lock the blade in an up position ( still have to ramp up the blade on a snow bank, but you have too with chain mount blades also). Have a contractor friend who spends the winter contract plowing and he currently is running 2 Blizzard Plows. He keeps saying if he could bring himself to sell the Blizzards, he'd love to try the new Western w/ the pivot uni-mount.

I have Blizzard 8611 Lo-Pros on everything. All modified in Erie, PA by Jerre's Service. Various edge combinations to deal with client needs at different places.

I figured there was a chance they wouldn't show up here. Just some local car pictures playing in the snow.

Now finally after a day of problems with the tractor blowers some pics of old blue.

Mom said sorry I got the truck stuck for you this morning. It was in 2wd when I jumped in the truck.

i did my first 4" push today with new boss 8'-2" power-v...worked great on the pavement but beat the hell out of me on the gravel. admittedly, i wish i'd gone with the larger blade.

I like it. I haven't tried out many other to compare but I have no complaints about the hiniker. Has a nice hand held controller with a thumb joy stick. The entire plow unit comes off the truck when not in use. Easy on and off mounting too with pretty much just a single lever to lock the plow unit on the truck.

Only thing that bothers me a little is it seems the break away springs are a bit to light. The plow will "break away" and fold over with what I think is a small hit of a crack in the pavement or a tree root or if it digs into the gravel. But like I said I don't have much experience with other plows so it may be just fine and I am expecting to much.

Bought the plow new 4-5 years ago and not one problem yet. I plow 4 driveways in front of houses, the whole area around the shop, the path threw the back yard to all the neighbors, and around a bunch of ponds for the business every snow fall. About 4 hours of plowing total.

Oh yeah, I did see a guy with a broken down snoway plow yesterday. He had the plow ratchet strapped in the up position and wasn't smiling. The truck and plow looked to be almost new too.

ouch thats not good, I was looking at the boss and sno-way but i think im going to go with the western with the pivot point on the Uni-mount system. I was cutting grade to day of the edge of ashphalt in my excavator, and made me realize the benifets of having full blade contact for good scrape, and good cutting edge wear.

Is gouging ashfault and uneven cutting edge a problem for you guys?

thanx

I know where all the edges of the cement and asphalt are where I plow. I come up to the cement or asphalt slow and make sure the plow doesn't catch making the transition. I also try to have the plow full on or full off any cement or asphalt. I try not to ride half on and half off because it will chew up the edges or even chunk out like you mentioned.
