For those of you that have done this swap what needs to be removed on the front end to get the stock one out and the new one in ? Does it just bolt right in place of the stocker? Do you just need different fittings and hose? What kind of temp drop did you see after the install? Thanks in advance for the help.Roy.
I removed the rubber/plastic flap up top at the hood latch. disconnected the hood latch, and removed the bolts holding the radiator in place. I didn't actually REMOVE anything but the stock cooler, it took some finesse, but it came out and the new 31 row cooler went in without mucking up any fins on either cooler. I'm sure somebody will chime in and give better directions, but that's how i did it. Otherwise, it bolts right in using the same bolts as the stocker. I did have to fab up some fittings just like Joe (Izzy351) did. search the forums for some pics. I saw a good 50-60 degree drop.
I removed the rubber flap, removed the hood latch, loosened the A/C condenser so it would give a little, then pulled the stocker out,it took a little very careful wiggling(you don't want to damage the radiator,or the A/C condenser).I bolted mine back in the same location as the stocker, but I wondered if raising the 6.0 cooler up some(to get it "more" into the fan air path)if it would cool a little better, but after looking at it,it's in the fan air travel anyway, way more than the stocker.
Not knowing any better, I went in from the bottom. I have a 4x4, so I have ground clearance room. It worked fine after I pulled off the rubber flap covering the bottom.
I got my parts at Home Depot (brass fittings) and NAPA (hose and clamps).
