6.0 Intercooler Install

First of all here is a link to a very good post on a 6.0 IC install.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...r-install.html

I went by this for my install.(That and I helped Andrew, jkid do his)

I started by removing the grill, top cover and the radiator brackets.

Then I removed the radiator support and laid it back on the engine. You get a good look at the stock IC with it out of the way.

I removed the IC boots then started removing the IC.You will have a little trouble getting around the A/C lines.Have a friend give you a hand here. You can see the size difference of the 6.0 cooler(its the bottom one) compared to the stock IC.

Then start to reinstall in reverse order for the new IC.You need help getting around the A/C lines going back in also. Here is the 6.0 IC setting in place.

I also installed new IC boots( thank you Clay at Riffraff diesel) when I did this.

Was this a good upgrade? Yes! How much did it cost? $100 for the IC boots and $200 for the 6.0 IC $300 all total.Driving results,it droped my EGT 100° and with the new boots I can now hit 28lbs of boost at WFO,compared to the 24lbs I was at before.

Edit:Also when the IC is out take a air hose and blow out the dust and dirt built up on the radiator.

I know this has been done before, but a little more info doesn't hurt.

Nice write-up Brad!! Reps coming your way. I have one sitting in my garage right now that UPS had their way with. I had to use some two-part epoxy and fix a couple cracks (mounting ears and inlet, believe it or not -- and THEY packed it, to the tune of $90 in shipping costs!!), but I think it'll be doable.

Yeah, it does suck. But I'm hoping for a partial refund on it. I've been screwed by UPS one too many times now. I have YET to get it from FedEx, so they're getting all my business from now on, if I can help it. FedEx Ground is real reasonable too...

Nice writeup, I have one sitting here but I have to get a different trans cooler or modify my existing one so I haven't done it yet. I'm also have a hard time getting measurements on my current one to figure out what size boots I need, apparently there is some variation.

You need to change one boot. I believe it's a 3 1/2" tapered to 3". I have one sitting out there if you'd like me to measure it...
