Doubt I could fit an intercooler of that size in my truck. Dual tranny coolers and the AC radiator already take up a lot of space. Maybe a custom grille of some sort but I still would have my doubts.
ive got a/c as well, you can clear it no problem. the 92+ front end as you can see comes in tight on the corners. brick nose would have a ton more room. and ya, its big. its ment to cool the 32 +/- psi the 6.0 puts out. i dont see a reason needing more air to cool my little 5psi lol.

Damn Oreo that looks like a LOT of work went into that. Too bad your motor puked on you. Are you throwing a 6.9L in there this time around?

As far as the holes in the bumper... could you just drill out a pattern in that one to keep the stock looking one?

I've seen those turbos completely suck those flex ducts closed from a clogged filter on a PSD.

Dave, what did you use for your install? HVAC duct sheet metal? Did you notice a difference compared to the stock setup?
it actually wasnt too bad to put in. i was installing the 92 gasser front end anyways so it was just one more thing to do. only took a few hours to do all the piping. clocking the turbo only took an hour, since i had to unbolt everything to get to the bottom 2 bolts.

Wouldn't it be easier to just run the hypermax setup for n/a trucks? The cowl area is under pressure while moving..

Shoot, it's only $90 bucks.

The cowl induction setup forces cool air in, pre turbo. An intercooler cools the heated post turbo air.

I know that. I have a 70mm on my mustang. I'm saying instead of building something to do a "ram air" effect (like having a tube in the grille area), it'd just be easier to use the cowl setup from hypermax. I was saying its under pressure when the truck is moving, with wind/air being pushed towards the intake (same as a ram air). The link I posted from their site is for N/A trucks. The picture just happened to be the only one showing the setup installed.

only thing about that is, IIRC psycstang said you can hear the air rushing through it.

Eh, thats not too bad though. You get the benefit of cold air which is want this n/a motor really needs/wants.

I used a furnace plenum to make my scoop.
Since it was from a furnace I removed from a house I was remodeling, cost was nothing.

Since I was doing HVAC work, I had everything tool wise, again no cost.

So my investment was only time.

The only thing that makes me nervous about the cowl induction is a couple stopped up drains could put water into the engine.

To many trees around here, leaves in the fall tend to wind up down in the cowl area and so wind up blocking the drains.

Hey Wreckin' - do you mind if I ask for a picture of how you rigged your intake to pass thru at the front grill/radiator area?

Trying to get some ideas..

Thanks in advance

Yeah I'll see about getting a pic tomorrow. It doesn't pass through that area, it sits right behind the rad support pulling in all the cooler air. I didn't want to cut anything, just kept it simple. Btw 4 inch abs if heated with a heat gun can be pressed onto the filter housing inlet and then locks on when cooled with a blast of water. Going to sand it back down and bondo the seams for appearance and strength. More fun to come. Gonna paint soon!
