re worked the intake to obtain more direct and cooler air. I am not cutting the area around the grill as there is already enough airflow at the inlet. Also dont have to worry about rain or similar. Coated the filter cover in hightemp enamel and the abs tube in the same. I have bulldog primer for it on order, that stuff is the best for plastics. check it out if you get the chance.
Dumb question, but why do you guys always go for the cobbled-together ducting, when at least for the '83-'86 trucks there is a perfectly good factory intake that draws true cold air from behind the grill through an opening in the firewall? I tried a few different setups in my bricknose, then went back to the factory slant-nose intake setup and couldn't be happier...
How is smooth wall abs plastic with no obstruction considered "cobbled together ducting?" airflow through my system will be far better than stock corrugated tubing. Just sayin!!
for about 10 pounds of boost you would need nearly 900 CFM for our beasts. That is from daves math. at max rpm ours pull in about 437 cfm. Sure leaf blowers push all kinds of air but how are you going to power it? The cost of leaf blower and all the power mods, just get a turbo. Or dont and enjoy the truck you have, i dont want to turbo mine, i am happy with the power i have. Last night to test my intake, i ran up our "hill" here that usually brings me to about 200F with the horse trailer. i did it three times in a row and couldnt get over 195. It works for what i wanted. Also hauled 40 100 pound bales of hay in it and it didnt even slow it down. I only have a twin core alum rad. Cant believe how much i love my truck!! lol. Tomorrow it may be a stink but hey thats life with these monsters. Oh i re did my mirrors with a fresh coat of semi gloss, man they look nice. Did a mask and hvlp spray with auto grade semi black. Love it. Looking at the john deere blitz black for the body soon. Cant wait!

And how many pieces did you use? lol It looks cobbled together compared to a factory setup of that type that uses a single 4" metal pipe with rubber boots at the joint to the air box, of course those are way more expensive and probably not much more effective than what you got there, but still, you get my point.
Factory is not steel pipe, it's thin corrugated plastic tube from a set up that sits over the battery. It's four pieces. When your mouth opens, you cobble together statements that aren't accurate. Did that offend you? Good then you get the idea of why I said it. Lmfao
