Sheer disappointment in the 2011 Super Duty

Yup, FoMoCo was back on the original T-birds and Mustangs. As for the interior, I love the gauges but have not seen the rest of the truck, just pics of the gauges.
I agree on the styling, not my tastes at all. But as far as the "presentation" of the engine, while it may be difficult to work on with the cab on the rig, so are all the diesels. As for the looks, it is not designed to be nice looking, but a work horse- designed for functionality. Personally, I am not a fan of the new SD either. As others have said, to each his/her own. Just remember what the trucks were originally created for.

THis truck had no sun roof, just those stupid air bags. But those are a rant I don't want to get started on, but IMO a roll bar would have been money better spent.

I now have 1300Km (807m) on my 2011 6.2L SD and love everything about it. I have the XLT XTR two tone adobe, grey interior and have no problem with it. Did a 600 mile trip on Saturday and the seats are comfortable for myself, my wife and the dog(Ok he's not very big). I guess I just one of those easy to please, boring 90%'ers. YMMV

Airbags, seat belts, crumple zones and other safety equipment that y'all may have a disdain for, are mandated by the NHTSA...like it, or not.
btw: Believe it, or not...my DD is a 2008 Fusion, w/o a sunroof. I just tilt the seat back a bit, have no problem with headroom, or legroom, and @ 6-5, 350, I'm sasquatched sized.
As I've told my local dealer more than once...When FoMoCo wakes up and offers the 6.2L in an F150 (besides the Raptor), I'll be the first in line to buy one.

1. The cab feels too small: our Super Duty's have massive cabs, and that's one of the things I truly love about my SD. Today my buddy and I checked out a 2011, he's 6' 4" and with the seat all the way up his head touched the headliner. In my 04, with the seat all the way up there is room for me to put my fist between his head and the headliner... whats up with that?

This truck was equipped with a tan cloth interior appointed with chrome and a two tone. It's impressive... until you see the cheap looking headliner and crappy sun visors. Yes the visors have a vanity, but the material they are made from looks like a cheap handbag found in a walmart childrens department. Furthermore, the headliner material looks to be a mixture of ink stained-burlap sack and construction paper. I have seen Hyaundais with more quality headliners and visors... c'mon ford my 2004 headliner looks 1 million times better... how do you improve an interior 10 fold then take a step backwards in the headliner you forced us to look at by making it closer to our head?
For example, my truck is an '08 XLT CC 4x4 PSD truck. Cloth seats, power windows, locks, CD player, and that's about it. MSRP was $46K. A 2011 is around $48K for this configuration. Can you honestly expect a world-class luxury interior for another $6K? Especially when you have to throw in the larger wheels, chrome accents, and all the other goodies that come with the Lariat trims?
It's still a pickup truck!

The only reason I consider this an issue is because even though the EPA is responsible for 9/10's of that engine compartment but the presentation is horrible. Presentation aside, how in the heck are you supposed to work on the darn thing? If you stand just at the right angle you can kinda see a rocker cover or something, and maybe half a turbo. It's really intimidating to look at, and that doesn't make me want to buy it any more.

Cool thread, I'm interested to see where this one goes!

The cab has seats from the F150 (I HATE the headrests), a flow through console and a different headliner to fit the new airbags. That's where the smaller feeling comes from.
I bet a lot of guys will be buying trucks with the 40/20/40 bench and replacing the center seat with an '08-'10 console,

But I am sure that as my tastes change and more of an aftermarket hits for these trucks I will come around a bit more. Dunno how long it will take for the fiberglass spare tires they call a dually fender will grow on me though. Sort of took the ***** off the back end of the DRW, if ya ask me.

I hope they do, because I want the 2011 console in my '09. I like the 4 cup holder much better than my jump seat 2 cup holder. just not sure if it will fit since I have a floor shifting 4x4.
