Yup, it's a reman and is only about 2 years old. Going to have to go with the warranty for now, since it's free, but definitely will look into a quality new one sometime in the future. (Have been thinking about one of those DUI distributor/coil/ignition module performance combos.)

Been told the Mallory Unilite is the best for the 300. DUI has the coil on the cap. Was told they have been known to melt through the cap. Never seen/experienced it, but heard it. I would think the separate units best.
Interesting, never heard of them melting through like that. That would definitely suck.
The Mallorys are nice units, but definitely much more expensive. The DUI all in one unit is around $350. The Mallory is $400+ for just the distributor, and that doesn't include a high performance coil or ignition module. Something to think about though.
I have one on my mustang, it is a great improvement, never had any burn through. if you think about it, it's a chevrolet hei set up, and those were around for a long time, probably would still be around if they could have figgured out how to computer control them.

I hope a new dizzy will solve your issues.. 1/8 inch of slop does seem a bit much to me... and nice to hear you can get another one for free
I did alot of research on the DUI dizzy and talked to the peeps help'n me, never seen a burn thru issue? not to say it cant thou... seems the local racer's love them!
At first I was gonna do the dura spark conversion but the 1 wire hook up sold me along with the 20 horse increase they claim?
I got there plug wires as well so still a bit over 400 in the end plus good plugs on top of that.
IMHO if you have funds to do an ing. upgrade with 'new' parts this is the way to go and about the same price tag in the end no matter what, if buy'n new parts, so just make it simple like with 1 12 volt wire
seemed like alot of money to me at first until I shoped around for the DSII stuff new... you can get all the DUI parts if need be at your local shop as well
