For what it's worth, I let them know, along with a photograph. It's pretty evident the gasket gave way in the pictures. Whether or not they'll do something....guess well see. It'd be pretty cool if they just dropped a Clifford intake in the mail for me, but I doubt it. Can hope though.
This is probably the closest you'll get to having Cliff' send you a new manifold. It is a photo of the guy who runs the place, operated from their home, in his garage, with 2 sparkling new mercedes in the driveway, him with a range rover. He is holding a new manifold.
Don't mean to tease you. I hope they do send it, but...I would go to plan 'b'. Good luck.
It was worth an email. He said there's no warranty on gaskets, but assured me it should be an easy fix. Oh well, worth a try.
However, he said with aluminum intakes should be torqued to 22 ft/lbs. Not the 26 that's in the Chiltons. Now I'm not sure what to go with because HGB4X4's instructions that he posted said 30. Anyone know the proper torque specs for an Offenhauser DP intake?
I think that 30lbs. is for the header and cast head. With my aluminum head, plus every other aluminum intake I've installed, called for 26 ft.lbs. Might be worth checking with Offenhauser.
Wish there was an aluminum head available for the 300.
I've never heard of a way to directly get a hold of Offenhauser, or found their direct website. Anyone know? Probably be good information since a lot of us use'm.
That's probably pretty sound advice from your mechanic, and 26lbs was fine on my aluminum intake one for over a year with the stock gasket. Just know I've been having intake leaking issues so I was trying a "better" gasket.
Thanks for the info. As far as I've found, too, they don't have an email or website.
This is where I downloaded a complete catalog. They carry the complete line of intakes. California also. At least another option for info: http://www*****terautosupply.com/index.html
