Check engine light came on the other day (truck seems to run fine)
Last time this happened it was the EGR, so I cleaned the EGR then took it to my friends shop to have him read and reset the light.
It was showing the following codes:
P0263 - #1 cylinder contribution/balance faulty
P0269 - #3 " " " "
P0299 - TC/SC under boost
He reset the light and I have driven it a little since and the light stayed off and the truck runs good. The turbo will spool up to around 30psi when stomping on it.
Could the dirty EGR cause it to show these faults?
If not are these items covered by the 5yr - 100,000 mile warranty?
The egr valve will usually throw a low flow code or something of the sort. Don't remember which # it is. I guess It could contribute too your third code. The first two I don't think are related, but yes they would be covered under the warranty. Also your EGR valve is covered under the emissions warranty aka zero deductible. They will clean or replace it for free. You'll just have to give up your truck for a little while.
Thanks guys
I guess I'll just run it and see if the light kicks on again.
I would rather take the 1/2 hour and clean the EGR myself than give up my truck for a day or more at Ford.
I just wasn't sure about the codes and if would hurt to continue to drive it.
