DTC Codes with new replacement engine
I have a '99 Ford Ranger 3.0 that has a new Napa replacement engine installed in it.
Check engine light came shortly after the installation of the replacement engine, and the codes showing are P1309 and P0401.
I've run the vacuum test on the EGR valve, the engine rpm dropped, which indicates the EGR valve is good, so I replaced the DPFE. Disconnected the battery to reset the codes and the P0401 came back. Not sure what else to check.
I've read posts about the P1309 code and unless there are some easy checks to do I am planning to take the truck back to the mechanic to troubleshoot this.
I'd appreciate any recommendations you have for figuring out these problems. Thanks!
I had seen a post in an earlier thread Rockledge had posted for reference indicating the CMP controls oil to the engine, but I also saw another post that indicated a Ranger can be driven with the CMP sensor disconnected and the computer will control ignition.
I can put up with less that ideal gas mileage but not fatal engine damage.
Thanks for your help.
