I know you probably already have the COPS changed, I just went through the same thing, well I had the chugging like trans issues with just a little hesitation from time to time. Bought the COPS on Ebay - this batch was BWD parts and had the dealer do the plugs. Solved the issues. I had 78,000 miles. COPS or Plugs, I don't know which, but it really solved the problem and with a 4.6 I need all to be running well anyway.
Good luck
Mike
I haven't done it yet. I had to go to the dealer and get the plug grease. I got 8 packets. I'm going to make sure I don't skimp out on the grease .
I'll probably do it Friday night. I would have done it, but I want to have the weekend if I end up needing it because of the bolt with the broken head.
Replaced all 8 of them, and now it runs like a champ. I spent about 55 minutes replacing them, and 4 hours and 5 mintues trying to get the broken bolt out that holds one of them in.
I didn't get it. All I had was vice grips and some other small time items. I'm going to bring it to a garage so they can take it out. It shouldn't take them that long.
2000 Ford expedition acceleration hesitation/rough idle
I have a 2000 Ford expedition 5.4 with 220,744 miles. So a few months ago it was having a very bad rough idle and when I got to a stop had to either put it in neutral with light gas or one foot on brake and other on gas. So it took me forever to figure out the problem and it was a vacuum leak. The most common leaks on this truck.so I fixed it and ran great for 2 months, now it's worse. No check engine light at all. Took it to a shop the only code they could find is a vacuum leak. So I replaced every vacuum hose even the tiny pieces. Nothing. I tested the coils they are all working. I checked some other parts can't remember what there called but nothing was wrong. Egr was fine fuel filter was replaced. Cleaned the carb the air intake sensors can't remember what those are called. Nothing. I'm lost.

Did you check the big rubber elbow at the rear center of the intake the supplies vacuum to the PCV system?
I can attest to the short life of the cheap chinese coils off of ebay. I put them on my 97 Expy 5.4, and replaced 5 of them within 6 months. when i did my intake gaskets i put a set of accel super coils off of www.summitracing.com. I didn't have any issues after. I am now running MSD street fire coils with next to no issues
OK, took everything apart, cleaned it up real good, and the problem seems to actually be worse.
Riding on the expressway at 65 today, I could feel the constant miss or stutter, and when I gave it a little gas it got way worse. It actually rattled the whole vehicle a bit.
Still no codes.
So what should I do? Take it to the shop? What are they going to do? If there are no codes, aren't they in the same boat as me? Will they just start stabbing in the dark and changing things?
Should I drop the money on new COP's and just replace them all? Ugh. This Expy is perfect in every other way. Runs (besides this) and shifts better than all of my friends newer vehicles, so I want to get this fixed before it farks anything up.
check your Pcv valve Hose where it connects to the back of motor intake ...just follow the pcv hose all the way to the back that was the culprit on my truck ..changed it now works perfect ...that connector goes bad as you can see and will not give you any codes...I repeat again...its the pcv valve Hose ...But on the back of the motor side where it connects to the intake on back of motor
