95 F150 build thread

So I bought a 1995 F150 xlt supercab shortbed 2 weeks ago. Since then I've been tearing it down, it needs a good bit of rust work and I decided to throw a bit of my style into it since I'm gonna need to paint it.

Here's how it looked when I brought it home

Started tearing it down

I scored some fenders from a junkyard that were much better than mine for $25 a piece

I fixed them up and got the one mounted

As you can see I'm shaving the emblems, this is just with crappy spray paint primer for now just to cover up the bare metal since I don't have a garage

I made a badgeless grill from the stock one

And I tinted the turns and sidemarkers

Here's how it all looks brought together

Just for reference, here is my car and you'll understand why I don't like chrome or shiny things

Leaning towards a midnight blue or a silver right now
All components will be black.

I think silver with those black accents would look good.

how about the copper color that only existed in 1994??? i'm doing all black accents on it as well and it's coming out to look awesome so far. installed my wheels and tires today and made a big difference on looks with black wheels. i'm doing black wheels, black DIY front bumper, black replacement rear bumper, black headache rack, black tool box, black grill, black trim around headlights, smoked headlights, corners, and signals. Also silver would look sweet. can never go wrong with midnight blue either. could go black like your car???

This honestly might be the outcome just because of how cheap it is
Still up in the air though.
Got the bumper all sanded down last night, been raining so I can't spray it yet.

God, I wanna try some body work so bad! I love sanding, blocking and nit picking stuff.
Keep us posted with the pics! I've got a 95 XLT Supercab as well.

Do you have bench or bucket seats? I wanna do buckets in mine.

I'd like to see the front grille assembled and on. No idea on a color. Maybe the midnight blue. I'm not sure how silver will go with the front grille.

^ JY for me tomorrow as well.. lol Gotta find those fuel filter connector things. Mine's been held on with zip-ties since I bought the truck. Don't want to mess with it if it isn't broken or leaking.

CycleG, on the 5th pic down what did you use to smooth the bondo, if sandpaper what grit count was it?

Coming along! How's the mechanicals, are you planning anything to them? How did you tint the turn signals?
What paint did you use for the grill?

I used 40 then 80 then 180 sandpaper for a DA

And I used VHT nightshade for the lights, it's found on ebay for relatively cheap. I've done my car lights twice and now these. You just put regular krlyon clear from Walmart on it after. For the grill I just used regular krylon primer, paint, clear. I should have used the Krylon fusion stuff but I didn't wanna run to Walmart.

^ I used VHT before on the Camaro. I got lucky with the taillights on the car because the headlights on my 4 wheeler came out like crap. They sell it on ws6store.com also.

If you want a light smoke, it's probably 2 LIGHT coats. I've gotten pulled over for it once on base. But the cop said he can't see the DOT casting. I said you could and showed him, then I got him sidetracked with another conversation and he just took off and forgot about the taillights.. hahaha
