It seems that my question is a unique one; while everyone is lifting their trucks, I'm looking to take the 3" lift out of mine.
My research tells me I'll need the following: new u-bolts and blocks for the back, and for the front new track bars, springs, shocks, and I read somewhere on here something about bushings (but don't know which bushings...). And I assume that it'll need to be aligned when all is said and done?
Am I missing anything? Anything I should watch out for?
Yes he says "track bars" and "springs" - but is he talking some panhard bar that may be on his 4wd, or the radius arms? Is it leaf spring or coil spring?
bushings may be the c bushings. most people dont change them with a 3" lift though. shocks, lift blocks out back? coils, or leafs up front.
a 3" is pretty mild, why are you removing it?
I assume you're asking if it's a suspension lift or a body lift? It's a suspension lift.
My truck is a 77 150, 4 wheel drive, coil springs in the front (with 2 shock absorbers on each side, if that makes a difference).
why are you removing it?
Ever since I was a kid I've loved the looks of these trucks, and always wanted one. This is my daily driver, and I don't plan on doing any off-roading, so having something the missus can get into easier is appealing.
Am I right that it will need to be aligned afterwards?
As far as the trac bar, most lift kits sold just have a dropdown bracket to utilize the factory bar, so you could just remove the extra drop bracket. And the rear you would just remove the lift blocks, you dont need new ones. Although new u-bolts then isnt a bad idea.
