The only two I'm not sure of is: Color (H)= Dark brown met. and Body (6 4)= 6=?? 4= styleside pick-up, because I am using a 1977 Ford manual to decode this 1973 VIN tag and those two are questionable. Maybe someone else will chime in with the correct information for those two item's. The rest of the info should be correct though. -Ed

Case in point, color codes on dad's 74 are MN. One is correctly id'd as wimbledon white, while the other is skipped for 74.
The window sticker lists the colors as wimbledon white and ivy glow glamour metallic. Since dad bought it new, and I was 9 at the time, I can verify that color of green was indeed factory. It's an emerald green, with lots of metal flake in it. I think it was a 74 only color, though other years offered a very similar shade of green, just less metal flake.

The VIN stamp under the hood generally tends to be near the motor mount towers. But, as said, can be just about anywhere between core support and firewall.

Even that site has a few missing items.

If that site doesn't work, it's best just to ask and Mike0o0o0o0o0 will give you the details
