I was reading the other day about the Hummer HV2 that was given to Lebron James by his mother, (high school basketball player expected to be the 1st draft pick this year in the NBA)
Got me thinking, its a far cry from my first vehicle, an 84 mustang that my dad bought me for my 16th birthday, with no motor, for $100.00 and said here you go. My mom bought me a motor a week later, and had it dropped off beside the car.
Anyone else care to comment on their first vehicle????????????
My first mode of transportation was an 89 Honda Aero 50 scooter. In Texas, you could get a motorcycle license at 14yrs old, as long as it only had up to 50cc. I put an old Radio Shack Realistic radio on it and 2 junkie 6x9's facing up, and a 100 watt amp on it. LOUD is the only way to describe that thing...
My first truck was an '89 Mazda B2200 single cab truck. It had been stolen, stripped, and left in a field. The only thing that was left was the frame and body. No engine, glass, dash, rear end, I mean nothing. I bought it for $300. Then I build a blue-printed 302 and put in, a Mustang dash and gauges, a '78 stationwagon 3.73 rear end, Recaro seats, a $4000 paint job, and way too much money in stereo systems and tires ... Three years and A LOT of money later - I had my first baby.....
Two weeks before Imoved to Atlanta, the truck was stolen
Guess it ended up back in a field somewhere just like it began...
Mine was a 1977 1/2 ton 2wd ford that my dad used on the ranch. 6cyl 4spd. It got rearended and the others insurance paid well. I got 3 color sikkens paint, dark blue, pink, light blue, new directional wheels, new interior, spoiler and lighted visor. I got it 1 week before starting at a new school as a freshman. Should have seen the looks i got. It was the pimp mobile. lol Funny, but there were a few copycats within the next few years in the surrounding area. Mine too had a sad ending, I slid off a muddy road and went updside down in a culvert. I sold it and it was cut down into a trailer. Id love to have that one back.
A primer gray 63 olds F-85 Cutlass, 70 series on the front and 60 serie on the back...bucket seats, auto on the floor, A/C didnt work nor the heater, ran rough when cold...$200.00. The first time I ever went over 100mph...
Anybody got one lying around somewheres I sure would be interested...
'73 snot green Torino wagon. It was free, came with a great 351C/C6 combo, needed a muffler & a battery. I ended up putting over 25000 miles on it and then sold it for $500 to a guy that wanted the engine. It looked like hell but ran like a scared cat.
My first car was a 1965 Mustang Coupe with a 302 V8...man she was a beauty! It was voted best car in highschool...I miss my baby!
Just like this one....same color too!

I still have my first vehicle that my parents bought me last May. A '94 F250 lifted 4-inches and 35-inch tires, 460 V8, along with other things. It was $12,000, but I will begin paying for it as soon as I can find a job. I guess you could say I'm a little spoiled...
Still driving mine. It's the 86 in my signature. Put ~45K miles on it through high school. Haven't driven it as much lately though as I have the newer truck at college.
My first vehicle is the one in my signiture(sp?). I got it for free from a guy that was moving and he didn't want to take it cause it wasn't registered, and it needed a lot of work done to it(and thats what i'm doing right now). But anyway i'm not complaining.
Learned to drive in a 1949 Volkswagen, no fuel guage, tridicators, and a lever on the firewall to kick over for another gallon of gas if you ran dry. My first car that I bought was a 1959 Hillman Husky.
A 1966 Volkswagen Beetle with fabric sunroof. Absolutely THE worst car I ever owned- complete piece of junk. Why people go crazy over those cars is beyond me. Of course, rear-engined-air-cooled cars are GREAT if the manufacturer knows what they're doing, and my '65 Corvair Monza convertible proves that. I'll attach a photo of it, if I can ever figure out how to do attachments .
Labron James and his mother can drive that hummer off a cliff for all i care. i live in cleveland and cant escape that kids "over hyped" name to save my life. his mother had no business buying him an 80,000 dollar H2 when she and he live in section 8 housing! thats just sick and a slap in the face of any tax payer in the country.
BTW, he smashed the hood and radiatior of a dodge stratus that belonged to an 88 year old women the other day. somehow he BACKED into her at a stoplight? he was probably watching one of the three TV's or or trying to play his PS2 that the truck has. all he did was hand her his phone #, said" ill get it fixed" and TOOK-OFF!
putting my anger aside: my first vehicle was a faded brown '81 Jeep CJ-7. it had the Renegade/Larado package. it had a hard-top with factory tinted glass AND a sunroof. chrome trim orund all the gauges, a chrome front grill and bumpers and chrome wagon wheels. it also had carpet, a padded and lockable center console and an Alpine stereo.
it had a huge rust hole in the drivers side floorpan and i kept the truck muddy as hell cuz the paint was so faded. after id go wheeling, id just wash the undercarrage and leave the body caked in mud! all that chrome and nobody ever saw it!
i miss that truck, never should have sold it.
