First car was a 56 Ford with a 312 4bbl. Was a good car except for the $10 floor shifter that would lock up once in awhile. Bought a 55 a few years ago. I am going to put in a 351w and 4 speed toploader. Next car was a new 65 Mustang, still got it.

My first vehicle (the F-350) , I bought it when I was 16, last year, I got it the day before my license( I drove it home with my dad in the passengers seat) . I thank God I passed my drivers test the following day, otherwise, that truck would've been sitting in my driveway for another 2 weeks
The cool thing is, I've had it for about 6 1/2 months, and the only time my parents drive it, is when they have to move it out of the way to get their cars out of the garage, other than that, I'm the only one who has ever drove it.
Take no offence to what I type below (Im actually really jealous)
I'm assuming your parents paid for that truck because thats a VERY expensive truck?
Ok if your a rich kid who invested in stocks at an early age thats cool.
My only question is do you pay for gas at least?
I've noticed a couple kids on this board with gas guzzlers and no jobs?
And if your parents pay for gas umm do they limit your driving or do you not drive much or do they not care?
Just curious how it works for ppl on the other side of the fence I wanted my 93 acura so bad I worked full time while in high school, kinda regret doing it now my marks weren't as high as they should of been had I done 4 hours hw and 4 hours work a night vs. 8 hours work no hw ;(
Anyway just wondering since I drive 600+kms a week WHILE in school and that truck would probably cost me 100$ a week easy hehe.

Don't worry, I take no offence, I get it all the time. I have two part time jobs in the summer, and one part time job all year round, and work my tail off for this truck. I DO pay for the gas, and monthly payments myself, while my parents help out on insurance. In the summer, I landscape, and haul a 10X8 landscaping trailer (Pace American), and my year-round part time job is working at a local supermarket. So, while I do enjoy the truck, it takes some hard work to own it, but, what in life today dosen't take hard work ? As for how much money we put down for it, .....well, thats a different story
II also plan on eather getting a new 03 or 04 F-350 with the newer 6.0L, or wating till 2005 for the new design trucks to come out.
Oh well, now that I'm WAY off topic
I do enjoy the truck very much, and is well worth the work. As far as my highschool grades, they actually stayed the same.
My first car I got when I was 18. I turned 16, there was no car from my parents. I waited, Christmas passed. No car. I turned 17, no car. At that point, I decided it just wasn't going to happen so I'd best get off my lazy butt and get one myself. Got my '86 Bronco 351 H.O. shortly before I turned 18. You can see it in my gallery. Then, just after I turned 18, I T-boned a Trans Am. This was in July, then I just got it back in November and have been enjoying it since. It's got 160k miles on the rebuilt motor, only problem I had was the starter which I replaced. Now another problem is rearing it's ugly head and it's my carb I think. The first picture in my gallery are before I crashed it. These ones (Which Alan was kind enough to host for me) were taken about 2 weeks ago
My first truck was a 1979 XLT Ranger (Thats fullsize for those who don't know better) that was handed down from my dad for free. Since 1997 I have been driving a 1990 Bronco and wouldn't trade it for anything.... well almost anything
1956 Ford Farilane 177ci (Dad called it a hot water) six cylinder. He drove it 10 yrs put 150,000 miles on it. In 1966 the car was released to my care. I rebult the engine and drove it all through high school.
I think you are a bit off on that engine size for a 1956 Ford. The only engine options offered then were a 223 ci six, and three V-8 sizes, 272, 292 & 312 ci. I never heard of the one you mention.
my first truck was a 87 f-150 ford blue/white. gotter when i was 16 (had to have a job to pay the payments) i wanted a lifted truck and my father repaeted ly told me you cant have any thing with no 10 inches of lift on it well i found this truck and she only had 9 inches and ran awsome so dad agreed to let me get it. my only regrets on that truck was that i got drunk 1 night and totaled her if it wont for the truck being so high i probly wouldnt be here today .........valuable lesson learned very early
since then i have owned a 88 bronco , 84 f-150 , 97 f-150 , and a 79 f-250 (mud truck) i still own the 87 , 79 , 97. no matter what any one says i will never sell my first ruck it was so high it only got damage under neath no body damage. shes at the shop now with big plans and i do mean big plans no more 9 inch lift we are gonna double that hehehehehe
My first vehicle was a 1978 Chevy Caprice that I paid 300 bucks for. I did most of the maintenance work on it and paid for the insurance/gas on my own (My parent opposed to me getting a 'gas guzzler'). I had the car a few years and it was off the road for repairs more than it was on the road (Its a chevy, go figure). I since had a few other chevies since then. Swamp Thing (my 70 F250 4x4) is my first Ford and I love it! The 78 eventually threw a rod and went to the great car heaven in the sky since it needed far too much work to make it worthwile.
First one was a '59 merc that my parents gave me for running around on an Island where we spent our summers.
It had brakes on two wheels, no floor, and a really weird sounding clutch. But it was really cool for an 11 year old kid
when i turned 16 i got a '64 GM truck for $5 that i spent way too much time working on, but I painted it bright yellow and thoroughly trashed it for the next year.. blew the rear end, transmission, rad, clutch and a few more things on it.

That VW without a fuel gauge brings back memories ( I had 4 bugs). Did you ever forget to reset the lever and run out of gas? I did - more than once.
My first car was a '37 Ford Coupe. First thing with a motor was a Whizzer motorbike when I was 13.
