Does anyone know the thread size/length of the 20 transmission pan bolts on the 4R100? I am replacing the pan since the rust has finally started weeping ATF, and the bolts need to be replaced as well, they have turned into little rusty nubs. SO i want to use stainless ones.
I could pull one and go to the hardware store, but if someone knows the size i can stop on the way home.
Figured I'd bump this rather than post a new thread. I'm aware it's M8x1.25 but aren't there two different lengths? At least for the 4x4 (deep) pan? Thanks!
There is not a separate pan for 4x4 and 4x2. That was only on the E4OD. And the pan wouldn't matter on bolt length, either. With both pans the bolt just goes through one layer of sheet metal.

Thanks for the information. I know that my 99 F250 SD with the 6.8 has the 20 bolt 4r100. I pulled the pan off not realizing there were two different size bolts until I went to re-install. Just flange bolts my guess is 20mm and 25mm? I'm pretty sure it's just the stock pan but I can't find any information about two different bolts. I just want to make sure I'm putting them in the right place so I'm not stuck heli-coiling.

I was gonna change my bolts to A2 stainless with smooth flange, do you think a 16mm long bolt will work? I know it's only 2mm but I'm not sure if Ford gave any wiggle room

They shouldn't be an issue, but I'd run a tap in each hole to make the threads are clean past their normal depth. I've had even the stock length bolts bind up in some of them.
