Did some searching and couldn't come up with the same exact problem that I have. My wipers and washer system will not work! Checked the fuses under the dash and all is good with them. Since the wiper and washer is out I sort of ruled out the wiper motor. Does it have a relay or fuse under the hood?
So I checked for power going into the motor and 12v. So I replaced the motor......................still no *(&^&*^( wipers! I took the switch apart and cleaned the contacts with no luck. So do I spend $100 for a switch or just take it to a dealer? No satisfaction in that! HELP!!
Not getting much help, are ya. Other than the motor, you do have a control module. Do you have the repair manual for your truck? CD's are available on ebay. If you plan on doing your own repairs, you are going to need it!
My wipers are just beginning to act up. But they work if I hit the steering wheel with the butt of my hand. So, I have to think mine is the multi-switch. You may want to try hitting the steering wheel to see if that brings them to life. If so it may be a short in the wire(s) from the switch to the wipers and washer or the multi-switch itself.
Since I am just starting down this road I will be interested in what you do and the results you get.
I saw a thread about another wire in the steering columb that had the insulation rubbed off from years of use. You may want to remove the steering columb covers, top and bottom, and check to make sure all of the wires are in good shape. If you find a wire(s) with it's insulation worn off then it may just be a matter of wrapping the wire with insulation tape.
Had the same problem in my 02 f250 sd 7.3. It was a broken wire in the harness just outside the firewall, good luck.
Interesting! How did you find that? In the process did you ever find the wiper relays that some ford engineer blueprinted out the location for at a bar with his buddies? "The damn consumer will never find them there! HA HA HA" It would make too much sense to put things that brake in a location that they can be eaisly located and fixed!
