Delay Wiper Switch

What does it take to put a delay wiper switch out of a newer truck into my '66? I have the 2 speed switch with a pull for washers.

I bought a switch out of a 79, and it works great and bolted right in. You do do need to trim the length to make it look stock. The other thing you need to do is put a motor out of the same year in, but make sure to use your bracket, and wiper arm. If you use the wiper arm from the later year they will not park correctly. I don't know where they park, but that is just what I read.

Mine works great.

Don't forget the intermittant wiper governor.

Why won't my motor work? Does the newer motor have to be made for delay?

The wiper module is what some people call it, and it just plugs into the switch, and hangs off it behind the dash.

I attached a picture of all the switch and module stuff you need I got the pict off Ebay.

FoMoCo terminology: Intermittant Wipers / Enthusiasts term: Delay Wipers.

No intermittant wiper governor, no workee intermittant wipers! Some peeps call the governor a "delay module."

The governor (black plastic box*) is located on the firewall adjacent to the wiper motor. There are two types: 1973/77 F100/350 (same as 1971/73 Mustang/Cougar) / 1978/79 F100/350 & Bronco.

The intermittant switch is the same: 1973/79 F100/350, 1978/79 Bronco, 1971 Fairlane/Torino: D1OZ-17A553-A (Motorcraft SW-1010) / Marked: D1OB-17A553-AA

All these parts are obsolete, but can be found NOS. But, intermittant wipers were optional, so not all these F100/350's and Bronco's will have it. Look at XLT's and Lariats, there's more of a chance of finding the setup.

Ask jowilker how he wired his up in his 1966 F100.

* If the (1975/79) vehicle has Speed Control, there will another black box (Speed Control amplifier), located near the fuse box, adjacent to the steering column.

EDIT: Pic in post 6: You will not find a 1973/79 intermittant governor with an ID number of E4TF-17C476-AA ~ Ford part number: E4TZ-17C476-A = 1984/86 F150/350 & Bronco.

Someone (maybe it was jowilker, I'm not sure) said you can use 1980's parts in lieu of 1973/79 parts. BUT...I'm not saying this, it's just something I've read in this forum.

Redneck, Don't know why you are having trouble, everything was plug & play for me. I did like Broomfield sez.

Best I can tell it really doesn't matter where the donor comes from in the Ford family lineup as long as the switch looks similar to the one above. Some were sliders and will work but not in the old wiper spot.

Picked up my parts while out yarding.
