Angry Oil Temps

I have an 03 6.0. Been using AMSOIL and love it. I have an Edge with attitude to monitor temps. Once I learned of suspected problems that could occur with my head gaskets I turned the tuner off until I can change studs and gaskets. I have recently noticed engine oil temps during normal driving average about 210-218 and my coolant is about 182-186. Towing is a completly different. My oil topped out at 240. I checked my degas tank for evidence of oil. Nothing. Will switching to 5W-40 help? I have had my coolant system flushed to try and clear one side of the oil cooler. No luck. Anyone seen this and what was the fix. I am pretty sure two things. Delete EGR cooler and replace oil cooler.

Hey AK...

Visit with us over on the 6.0 forum. You will get great information from the guys who eat. breathe and sleep with these trucks. Your eot/ect differential is way too far apart. 15 degrees is the Ford spec on this. You are running on borrowed time with the oil cooler. Your 2003 truck has the original round style egr cooler. These have been far more reliable than the newer square cooler that arrived after 9-23-03. It may be ok. Pressure test it and if it passes block off the up pipe and get back to drivin.

Regards

Ricatic
