My 6637 install caused turbo surge when pulling 7% grade when empty. VERY BENEFICIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Question guys, I have had the 6637 on my truck pretty much since I got it. Long enough to not remember what the truck runs like without it. My question is, is the engine quieter with the stock airbox and filter? Mine seems to have a moan or drone that my father-in-law's doesn't, but he still has the stock setup.

Thanks.

The engine isn't quieter, but your cab is. With the 6637 I only get a drone at certain RPMs in a certain gear and constant at those for a bit. Thankfully no drone at 65mph. Supposedly if you make an airbox surround for your 6637, the drone goes away. You'll hear more turbo noises with the 6637 too. That's just the way an open air filter goes.

On what did you base your decisions to change the filters?

Reduced fuel economy?

Dirty appearance of the filter?

Restriction differential?

On my SD, I changed the filter on appearance-it was absolutely the nastiest looking air filter I have EVER seen in a running vehicle, when I bought it. The filter minder was still in the green. On my Yukon, the filter didn't look as bad as the SD, but was still VERY dirty, but yet the filter minder was green on it as well.

This is just my experience with them. Maybe I have never been around a filter minder that was actually working properly?

However, what I am saying is, if you are wanting more airflow, would you want to wait until the airflow is restricted below the factory amount, before changing your 6637?
