Ive read how to do the mod and seen alot of forums on it but I havent really seen anywhere explaining its exact purpose.
Im thinking about doing it and i was wondering if it would be beneficial to me cause my truck has no mods other than a edge programmer and a 4" turbo back exhaust.
Absolutely it would be beneficial! Anything that flows more air is beneficial. The 6637 is a cheap alternative to some of the more expensive intakes. Cheap is not a bad thing though. The 6637 has proven to filter extremely well and it has also proven to flow a respectable amount of air. Plus, if you pair it up with one of Pete's filter covers it really dresses up the engine compartment. You can keep it simple and get Clay's kit and get it all taken care of at once.

It's so much bigger than the original that it allows an almost unrestricted amount of air into the turbine inlet, and allows air to pass through the filtering medium slower, with less differential pressure. This should make for a filtration system that can collect more dirt before replacement is necessary, and give you cleaner air at the same time.
Is that your filter and yellow cover. It looks like the filter minder is under there. If so, how does it fit. This is the only reason I have not purchased a cover.
I have read a lot about the filter.I live in Rochester NY.Where in Rochester can I get one put on? I can not do this myself and will need to have it done for me.
I ordered all my stuff seperate if i did it again, I would dffinitely order from Riffraff, just get the kit and be done with it. No need to be tryin to buy all the stuff when you can get all the pieces at once cheaper.

Yes, under the end of the "Pop Plus" is the FilterMinder. It fits just fine.
I monitor the FilterMinder reading when I take the cover off for cleaning.
Thanks for all the help guys I understand it and the concept now. I hope to do it sometime in the next few months when I can get the time and im able too.
if the 6637 flows more than the stock setup, wouldn't the filter minder be kind of pointless? I mean, if the filter minder is telling you that the filter is dirty, that means that it is flowing way less air than it should, as the filter minder is set to show you the stock setup is clogged. The way I see it, you would want to change the 6637 long before the minder says so.
In fact, my experience with my filter minder and even others I have had on different vehicles (GM's) is that the filters needed changed before the filter minded indicated, with stock setups.

I believe that restriction differential is restriction differential, regardless of the size of the medium.
On what did you base your decisions to change the filters?
