what exactly is the idm and what does it do? can you adjust them your self? is it a simple process? and last but not least, is it cheap to buy/ do yourself? ive seen a few profiles that say they have this, i just havent got a clue what it is or what it does! somebody fill me in on this mod!!! thanx guys
Its not a bad mod to have. Im gettin ready to order one up from my guy at BDP. Irregardless, you should enjoy it. Some have seen anywhere from 20lb ft. to 70lb ft.
It up the voltage to your injectors. Opening and closing them quicker allowing them to stay open longer thus more fuel. More power. I just went from our stock IDM 100v to a superduty IDM 120v. You can actually feel a difference. I'm sure it would be even more noticable with a modified 140v IDM. Hope that helps.
has anyone done this to their truck themselves? i got an email from tjbeggs and it has pics on it and also tells you what type of resistors needed to do it yourself. it looks like a bit of a pain but if someone has done this and can explain (no bull *****) to the T, ill show you the website to show the pics i have to go off of. the yellow wire doesnt even look connected to me in a couple of the pics.
This could all be achieved easier with a 3 place SPDT switch though.
Thats setup there is not very pratical. Your relying on the electronics to do controll the circuit. So your not really in charge, you might be running a different OHM due to the way its setup.
Basically, the voltage takes the past of the least resistance.
When the switch is off, it goes throught the larger resistor, which is first.
When the switch is on, the voltage takes the easier path to the lower resistor.
Unforunatly, this will give you an odd resistance, due to the setup.
I guess i'm saying its not a good circuit.
If anyone wants to do this mod, make sure you use heat shrink tubeing over your wires and resistors, It will save you heartache, and though nobody will see it, you will know it looks pretty. =)
