was wondering about how to test glowplugs , do you have to unscrew the wire that goes to the glow plug or can you do it with it on the glow plug? also same question about what brand to get, i was reading about NGk glowplugs are they any good n has anybody used them?

Motorcraft/Beru, even if you have to order them.

Yes the wire has to come off. Anything other than Motorcraft/Beru and your asking for a short plug lifespan and the possibilty of them swelling when they burn out.

BERU ZD9s are what everybody is enthralled with. Boschs don't have a good reputation. I've heard that they will swell if overheated, making them exremely difficult to remove.
