As a letter carrier, I wear Thorogood boots and Rocky boots as they need to be US/SRA rated and I walk 12 miles per day in all weather. I normally get 7-8 months out of a pair of boots.
So, that's 60 miles per week x 28 weeks = 1680 miles walking on all terrains in all conditions with a weighted bag.
They are made or assembled in America. The price range is about $100.00. + or -

Got a link, you may have just set me up with my next set of hiking boots...
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Belleville boots. The combat boots stand up to ANYTHING for almost forever and the steel toe work boots and as flexible and comfortable as can be,they come ready to wear, no "breaking in" needed, and the winter boots have gortex built in. Really helps. You can get a pair for about $120 (Approx.)
I loved the red wings until I bought a pair of walmart SURVIVORS. they were like walking in tennis shoes and lasted very well (better than expected) but not sure if they make them now
They are the king toe with the huge met guard. I love them, they are so comfortable.
Tonight was my first night working in them and by the end of my 8 hours my feet did not hurt, out side of the ankle rubs from the new boots being a bit stiff. They are great.
I think I will be getting a pair of their waterproof boots for winter time.
