Love my new truck just not the seats

Don't get me wrong they look great and are comfortable but seem to be stain magnets. The "piping" on the outside edge is just starting to fray...had the truck for 15 days, 1000km. Luxurious feeling material just no durability imo. They are not bad now, but i can see that they will not last.

Gonna have to be extra careful getting in and out or buy covers. Will mention it to my dealer tomorrow, not that they need to be replaced now, more so that they know and don't say wear and tear in 6months.

there's been complaints of cloth seat staining since 04. my old 04 FX4 had cloth seats and luckily I had the dealer apply their interior Scotchguard protection package when it was new and I never had any stain issues in 5 years of ownership.

Ford can't seem to get this problem fixed. My seats stain from water which is crazy and for being in a truck they just seem to get stains from everything. I assumed they would have changed the cloth on the new model.

I'm curious, does your truck have side steps? Steps make a huge difference on how much abuse the sides of the seats get. Not that you should see anything after 15 days, but if you don't have steps it could be a contributing factor.

Buy seat covers-it will be the best thing you have done. When you go to trade or sell-rip them off and you have brand new seats. That's what I done for years. Chris

Ya, I am going to end up just getting covers.

I do have the side steps...some time I use them sometimes I don't. I'm 6'6" tall so I feel silly stepping up WAY above the truck then down again to get in.

I think it may be easier getting in and out without the steps on, so I may take them off. They put you about 4inches farther away from the seat, and just get your pants dirty.

Have you ever tried using the steps on the way out? thats a weird experience! Half of your heal on the step as you semi squat your way out. Haha Probably the most chance of wear when sliding across the seat getting out.

I think my interior cloth (FX4 sport cloth) is pretty tough, but it is black, so I got some good covers just to keep them clean. I have also heard a lot of people like the scotch guard... I haven't done it yet but I think it should guard against stains well.
As for the unravelling in the stitching, I would imagine the warranty covers that? I really don't think that is the norm for these trucks.

I make it a point to use the step bar especially when getting out. I think it prevents excess wear on the edge of the seat. When I first got the truck, I found myself sliding down off the seat to the ground and I didn't like what it seemed to do to the seat.

My 05 seats stain with water as well, it is so frustrating!!! Last summer I cleaned and scotchguarded my seats and it helped a bit but the off the shelf scotchguard is not the same as the stuff the dealers use (that I can tell).

I didnt like the seats in the XLT either, thats one of the main reasons I went with the STX. I like the "cheap" seats better and they seem to be a tighter weave in the cloth. They are also darker which I like, the tan or light grey is just blah imo.

I am 6'4" and one thing I did not want when I bought my new truck was steps as it is pretty much a useless item for me since I have no plans on lifting it. My last truck was a crewcab superduty that had a 8" lift and 37's so I got the amp research retractable running boards since I prefer the clean look of no running board but most people could not have gotten into the truck otherwise. My wife has a crysler aspen and it has the built in running boards and all they are really good for is getting the back of your pant leg dirty since you have to step over them to get your foot on the ground like you mentioned with your steps.
I say take off your steps and see how it works for you, it is only a few bolts and can be taken on and off with no harm if you change your mind.

Hopefully i don't have staining problems.
