IPR valve removal

Does an O2 sensor socket fit the IPR valve for removal or is it a must to get the Ford tool?

I bought the socket fairly cheap. I can not recall where right now. I will find it and post it.

Are you serious about changing it out? If so, I could ship you my socket and you could return it when you are finished w/ it. I would just need you to cover my shipping cost.

Mark, I certainly appreciate that. I will wait on that decision for now as my Autoenginuity will be here next Monday. I'm just trying to go through in my mind what I might be facing (to the lesser side of replacing the HPOP) My thoughts are that it (the IPR) could be defective, I saw that it's default position is "open" which wouldn't let the HPOP build any pressure. Also considering the possibilities of a potentially bad CMP or crank position sensor. Just can't seem to get my mind wrapped around the BIG pump going out so abruptly. Could also be injectors I suppose.

No, this is an early 03, it's on the back of the block. I wish it was on the valve cover!
