IPR education needed

I have a 2004 (4-04) F-250 with 198K. a week ago I pulled the turbo off and cleaned it. dorve it for about 30 miles. and the engine quit. got it back home, checked codes with AE and found P2290. Checked ICPV ICP and IPR% while cranking and had .85V 530 PSI and 84%. removed IPR valve to check the screen for damage and debrie none foud. applied power12vdc to check its operation and i dont see it moving. so my question is install the ipr and pressure test for oil leaks?

I don't mean to jump in on your post. but I have an 05 just took out my ipr the screen had a small rip in it and dirty I cleaned it and also put 12 volts to it nothing happened maybe I should just replace it , but if I can get away with putting a new screen in save some money !

Without a doubt air test the HPO system. Do you register LPO pressure on the instrument cluster while cranking? Also what are the ICPV's at KOEO?

A few things to look at
1. ICP sensor , look for oil out the back of sensor connection side p-2290 is ICP pressure to low
2. do you have OEM oil filter and cap? this will create no pressure situation.
3. if above come out ok then Pressure test Lpop and Hpop

.12 volts is too low it should be .18 to .24 have you tried starting it with the ICP unplugged?

your original post said IPR was 84% and when you applied power it didn't move. That is closed, the valve should move when the voltage is applied or removed. It moves to give the pressure needed by demand on the motor, commanded by the PCM seen thru the ICP.

I'd check the HPO system for a leak before spending the $$ on an IPR that may not be the problem.

530 ICP is enough. I'd also look for a chaffed wire, wiggle some wires near the turbo area. You disturbed a bunch of stuff removing the turbo, would be easy to have been a little ruff on them.

Any codes? Do you see sync?
