Well I got the other side on last night, too a long box in wrench and used it as a pry bar. So now all i need to do is bolt the y up as best as i can and get it down to the shop. What did you guys do about the emissions tube that runs from the back of the smog pump to the back of the engine. IM thinking about mounting it to the fenderwell because i couldnt get it to bolt to the header. Im going to take a file and round out the bracket to see if that works better. I would prefer to just get rid of all that smog stuff anyways. any suggestions??
Thanks
the shop is about 2 miles away maybe a bit more. should i worry about the exhaust leaking for that distance. will i cause any damage??
hmm..im not sure what emissions tube you're talking about. i didnt mess with anything on mine. nothing was bolted to my manifolds except those lift brackets, a ground to each side of the intake manifold, and heat shields. my coffee can is already mounted to the fenderwell.
dont bolt the y pipe on loosely; snug it on there as tight as you can (not too too tight though. no sense in damaging your new headers). the tighter you push them the less they'll leak. and no, driving with a leaking flange for 2 miles won't hurt a thing. even driving that far with just the header won't hurt anything, except your ears.
i have the exact same problem as you and i've been driving my truck for a week. its just obnoxious. sounds like a flapping baseball card in a bike tire...or a high pitched harley. can't decide.
im heading into the shop at 8 am tomorrow, so ill get thing snug tonight ready for the trip in the morning. this tube is for the emissions and runs from the back of the smog pump to the back of the motor on the passenger side. I guess it pumps air into the heads, no biggie ill just figure out how to mount it up. probably just take a round file and go to work where the bolt goes through and try and get it thinner so it will fit around the bolt and fit next to the header pipe.
Better get that fixed , shouldnt cost you to much i would think. also the guy mis quoted me on a price. so im not getting the cat replaced, so that will save me a hundred bucks maybe more.
nah, im putting on a set of gibsons this weekend, and im hoping that they'll seal up right to the stock like theyre supposed to. otherwise, getting new flanges made costs ~$80. not too bad.

well the bronco is back in the drive way. the new exhaust sounds great. I still need to replace the plug wires, with the new ones i bought because the truck is running really rough right now. Almost like its running on 7 cylinders. Not to worried about it , will replace wires and should take care of problem. I installed new champion platnum plugs to . cant wait to open her up. the paint is flaking off on the passenger side but not the driver side whats up with that.
