I have a 93 F350 460 with a C6. When I slow down or stop at a red light my tranny will not downshift back into a lower gear. So when I take off from a light or stop sign I have to really get into the gas to get moving. Doesnt help the already terrible gas mileage. What could be the reason behind this? Sorry if this is a dumb question... i will admit I know nothing when it comes to auto trans. thanks
Ok so I had this problem happen to me recently and what I did was remove the tailshaft portion and take the govener out and took it apart and cleaned up the pistons with a red scratch pad or some emery cloth, and put it back together. i used lots of trans fluid on it to clean it as tranny fluid cleans things real nice, and put it back together and add a couple bottles of Lucas trans fluid conditioner and after a couple hundred KM it started to work real good.
Which makes me happy cause when you're at a stop and try to take off in 2nd or third it sucks!
Have fun and a bit of advice there is a fair bit of fluid in the tailshaft just ask me how I know, I even had a pan ready but my trans jack was in the way so it was all over. My poor garage floor
