Let me get this right......your going to "stick it to the man" and not send it in just to make them send someone out......and you know who's going to pay for that.....you and I....in the form of having to pay more in salary's which are covered by MY tax dollars......good job....stick it to the man....

We were not counted in the 1980 census up there. Nor the last two times.
I have lived in the same house for 20 years, never have done a census. I don't even remember getting it in the mail and i know no one knocked on my door. If I did get it in the mail, most likely it went into the shredder where all my junk mail goes. that's how thorough they are about following up on people that didn't participate around here.

I will fill out how many live here and that is it. Not required to answer anything else. If they show up at the door, the wife can answer the questions!!

My Husband would agree with you there because "he's" never filled one out either. His clothes are clean, foods on the table, what money I will give him is in his pocket, tools/toys in the shop - he's a happy camper. Okay, its a bit more complicated than that but you get the gist of it. I do mention that the Census came and we filled it out but he doesn't remember that stuff - not when there's a bronco in the garage to play with.

I saw a report on this on Fox news with Cavuto and Judge Andrew Napalotano (sp) Seems they are randomly sending out both forms, the short and the long. From what I understand, most probably will get the short form. But they showed some of the questions. The one about what race you are is a joke, but they also ask your income, how many vehicles you own and others I forget. Napalotano basically said the census is only to know how many people and what age those people are at that residence. All other questions are an invasion of privacy and also unconstitutional. Not sure what I will do until I get the form. But I would love to know how much money was wasted sending out a letter telling me the form will be sent out in a week or two??? Talk about wasteful spending.
Around here, about 2 weeks ago they were looking for something like 120 workers to go door to door. Well even with record high unemployment, not to many filled those jobs because of where they have to go. You never know who is gonna open up that door in the city.

Actually I can almost bet that most dont have the mailman. This city is bad and only getting worse. They actually kinda declared bankruptcy (they are in protection from the state) and cut services like police.

Everyone has a mailman unless they are homeless and living on the street.

"Seems they are randomly sending out both forms, the short and the long."

I don't know who "they" are, but every article I've read says only the short form is being used in 2010. Nobody I know has received the long form.

Just what's required and that's it. Big brother just keeps trying to get more and more info out of the sheep.

Yep got mine today. It says in big, bold, black letters on the front, "YOUR RESPONSE IS REQUIRED BY LAW". The only question required is the first one and it is boxed in and highlighted. How many peeps?? Ha, easy, 2!! Love the short form.

Or live in an area without home delivery. I have a post office box, because we don't have home delivery. This is common in little tiny communities like mine, but probably not common in cities.

I got mine too......nothing they don't already know from the other questions from your taxes....

Age, check.......name, check........housing status......check.........even if you own property eleswhere that you stay at.....check......

So maybe redundant.....but not invasive...

I grew up in the same type of little town, Stockton Springs, Maine. Some get home delivery and most go to the PO to retrieve their mail. The inside clerk simply puts your mail inside a box designated as yours or you can rent a PO box. Either way, your mail is considered as delivered.

NOW - Here is a fun idea (Yeah I know - those are the dangerous ones).

Supposing you really knew where the questions were leading, what they were getting at?
What could you do, and how would it be useful to "LOAD THE ANSWERS"...

I wouldn't go overboard with that idea - because I can surely guarantee what the result would be if I responded by stating (as an example):
"MYSELF, AND 27 PARAGUAYAN REFUGEES" to one of those questions in particular.
(It has been suggested in the past that I am a crazy SOB. That is TRUE! But no such people live at my place... I may be crazy - but not stupid)

But it slightly annoys me that they may or may not include non-essential things. My feeling there is to just roll with it, and get on with life - but if they want info that shouldn't really concern them they can KISS MY FUZZY BEHIND!!!.

The purpose of the census is to establish how many people are in this country, and thereby (having that information) determine what the common tax rate ought to be. At least as far as I am aware...

It affects other things as well I'm sure - but that was the orignal intent, am I right?

If that is true, the more people who respond, the lighter our federal tax will probably be. Or at least it seems so on the face of it.
BE HAPPY ABOUT ONE THING: We don't live in FRANCE
