as of now my truck is just like it rooled off the lot.
is it neccary to delete the egr cooler... no not really.
what is neccary is dealing with the root issue's that cause egr coolers to fail in the first place. correct maintance at the right intervals reduce the likly hood of al failers. this means oil changes on time, coolant flushes, using vc9 etc...
My truck is more of a grocery getter then much else. Im one of the few people that can say its cheeper for me to drive daily then a gas powered turck. I dont own or pull a trailer as of yet, I may get a little 20' camping trailer at one point but still thats not to large.
now with that said Im look at the mods I do want to do vs. the point of diminished returns. I dont really have to worry about state inspection issues,passing smoke test and function testing of parts. the worst would be a road side visual and that not likly.
So as soon as I figure out at what point the money is not worth the trade off is were I will draw the line.
right now Im looking at headstuds, delete kit and a programer... I would also like to find some info on ficm programing and see if thats worth it. I think at that point is were the diminsihed returns come in to play for me. I am however still very up in the air as to what Im gonna do.
