Yeah, I couldn't figure out why it did that on my Cheb til I got it apart. Ended up using a wire brush to get it all workin' smooth, then used brake grease to make sure everything kept moving. Gotta be careful with it tho, cause that stuff'll collect dirt like nobody's business if you get too crazy with it. As soon as I pulled the wheel off on my '78 and saw the rotor I knew what was goin on. Then I got the locker off and saw the driveaxle. Then I got the hub off and saw the spindle.
Well, the hub was bent out from the middle, so it was flared. Had to drill it to get it out. The groove for the snap ring was sheared off on the axle shaft. Then, when I got to the spindle nut, the outer nut was cross threaded on the thing and screwed up all the threads on the spindle. So, comes to new hub lockers, outer axleshaft (pita to find), new spindle (bigger pita to find) and spindle nuts. Finally just bought a spare D-44. That's what that thread about the 79 axle on a 78 is about. Was just gonna swap the whole axle, but the one I found had a broken ring gear.
Rust n' mud in em too.
i don't think that's the issue. it's a brand new rotor, and i've cleaned the calipers really well, and the rest of the stuff in there, dust shield etc. i'll have to look at it some more and see what's going on. but i think the caliper needs replaced. could i spray some kind of lubricant on the pistons to see if they loosen up more?
no. the calipers slide in and out a little bit on their mounts. the grooves they slide in might be causin em to stick. might also be why you had such uneven wear on one side.
i go to school all day 2 days a week, work part time, and seems about every 4 days lately, the weather gets bad and starts snowing again. supposed to get quite a lot of snow friday and saturday. would be nice to have a garage to work in, but i'm doing everything behind my apt. building.
