I know this carb is a loser, but I am reviving a 1979 F250 Crewcab (460) that sat for 6 years. Cleaned and re-kitted the carb (Motorcraft 4350 Spreadbore, engine is earlier than '79, I think '75??) Anyhow, after 2 months of prep work started the ole' beast up yesterday with the help of a ether. A few questions about this carb to anyone willing to help,
1. What is the function of the 2 screws on front (I know they are mixture screws but which one is for what adjustments?)
2. What is a good "initial" adjustment for the two screws (i.e. two turns out, etc...)
3. If the truck runs good but won't idle, do I turn in or out? which screw(s)?
4. The vacuum ports: passenger side goes to distributor advance, right? What (if anything) is the drivers side port for?
Thanks for any help....I am obviously a novice on carbs..
I have always heard the adjustment screws go al the way in, then back out a turn and a half...fine tune from there, but that will usually get you running.
