water leaking in dash

I have a 1998 Navigator. When it rains water leaks in the the left side of the dash(the water utlimately drips down by the parking break pedal) and gets the fuse box and modules wet... this causes all sorts of problems...wipers will not work.....speedo stops working, therefore the trany stops shifting/working...you know the speed sensor thing.........these are the main problems with wet electrical parts......

The windshield was replaced last October and I have had them to do a pressure test on the windshield seals.....no leaks......

I have heard that this seems to be a problem on the 1998 Expeditions and Navigators, but cannot seem to find any information on where to stop the leak.......

Any ideas where to plug the leak?

Thanks!

Don't know for sure, but I start by checking the mounting brackets where the door and body frame meet. Seems like a good spot for leaks.
When you run water over the windshield, how long does it take for the water to make its way done to the floor? You could always try tracing the water backwards...

My 2000 had to have the GEM module replaced due to a poor factory job of sealing the windshield, subsequently the windshield was resealed, too. $800 at dealership. This was a common problem on the 1999 and 2000 models I believe. This could be your problem.

That truck from 2002 is probably all rusted by now. Do you have a moonroof? If you do I'd suggest cleaning out the drains to make sure they are flowing.

I have had the same leak for some time. Anyone ever come up with a definitive answer?

The windshield has to be removed, resealed, and reinstalled by a automotive glass shop.

Also check the plastic windshield support clips there along the base of the windshield. With age they crack or otherwise leak through the firewall because of bad sealing. You may find them broken or loose from their firewall hole. If they're not actually cracked or broken you can reseal them with some black sealant.
