Hi All,
New to this forum and looking for some help. Problem started when the truck would start, but then die like is was being told to shut off. My wife left the driver window and hood up waiting for me to get home. It rained hard for a while. Things got wet. Now the symptoms are: interior lights flashing on and off, door locks going up and down, radio turns on, dash lights don't work (including odometer). When I turn the key, the starter cranks fine, but won't start. Only lights that come on the dash are the battery light and the theft light blinks. I have read a lot about windshield leaks, but have not had the wet floor. I pulled the GEM and don't see any evidence of water. Also pulled the PCM and no evidence of water. The sunroof has been leaking for a while now and does leak on the seats and center console. I don't have money to throw parts at it unless I know for sure what the fix is. I'm hoping it is something that can be repaired. Anybody have any similar issues?
Ok, so I found out the problem with all the electrical gremlins is due to a fried gauge cluster. If I turn on the dimmer switch, it provides power to the cluster and everything works as it should. Now we are back to the original issue. Truck starts, but dies instantly. Any ideas? Possible vacuum leak or bad fuel pump or fuel filter?
So I charged up the battery and then attempted to start it this morning. The truck died after a few seconds, but it sounded like it needed air or fuel. Next time, I gave it gas and got it running, but it sputters and feels rough. I took a look at the engine and noticed the vacuum hose on the top of the throttle body is collapsed while running. The hose is old and weak. I am going to replace, but will this cause the engine to run rough. The hose runs to a junction point on the firewall. Not sure what that junction box is.
