My '10 displays the message for 2-3 sec at most. It regens 'transparently' for the most part. I noticed the last few regens, just before it officially went into regen, it must have tried to do something psuedo-passively..maybe it was in my head, but it sounded like it was trying to do something. Other than that, hit the system-reset and wait for the messages to scroll.
I'll bet Ford turned off the message because it was generating a lot more questions and complaints than they hoped it would be of informational value.
I''e been wondering if wrapping the DPF in some non-combustible insulating material will help retain some heat to burn off soot more easily than otherwise...
probably get busted for 'modifying' the exhaust during smog check one of these days in CA, regardless.
Ok. My 08 displays "CLEANING EXHAUST" the entire time it is in regen. As long as you do not select anything with the message center button it will last 10 to 20 minutes and message will go out. Then it goes back to regular display, usually avg. MPG. Also I did notice it does drop 2 to 3 MPG during regen.

I have a feeling that the next the dealer reflashes your truck it will then go to the 2 to 3 second display then off.
you know come to think of it there has been a couple of time that it cought my eye, I thought it dimmed or maybe got brighter, maybe it had flashed regen and the changed back and that it what cought my eye. Still hard to belive that I've not ever saw it though. I'll keep an eye out for it though
Do you always get a "complete" message by default or is that something your Insight does? I do not get the complete message on my 2010...just curious if that was stock.

Mine went into regen Saturday night as I was leaving the Alamodome, but before I got to my exit (about 15 miles), it was done, but I missed the "complete" message. The display just went back to what was previously displayed (AVG MPG). Of course, my Edge Insight also goes crazy, as I have an alarm set for regen status...no way I can miss that!
