As part of the deal when i bought my truck the dealer put a class-3 hitch receiver on the truck. It has the 4 pin trailer connector right now. how hard is it to install a 7 pin trailer connector? are the wires already pre-ran, or do i have to chase them down myself.
Also, i have a transmission temp gauge, does that mean there's a seperate tranny cooler also?
if i remember right you can get the 7 and 4 plug from the dealer that just plugs in to the rear harness but i think you will still need to run wires for a brake controler. also their is a few aftermarket product also

I know my dad had the adapter from the 7 pin on his truck down to a 4 pin that was on his trailer, i didnt' know if there was a reverse adapter or not, I figured i'd have to run the wires to the actual controller. thanks for the input.
The brake controller should wire into a connector that plugs in under the dash. As far as having a 7-pin connector, you will have to get the adapter that plugs into the factory wiring harness on the chassis rail. You can find them at e-trailer.com . They should have anything that you will need to hook it up. Good Luck
does anyone know the part number for the 7/4 harness that plugs in to the factory plug on the drivers side right above thee spare tire? It should have a kind of rectangle end to plug into the factor port and the round head on the other end that will plug into the 7/4 pin connector? Any help would be great
Vehicle... 2010.5 f150 with just the factory 4 pin, I have already installed the brake controller and wiring along with the fuse and relay to have trailer brakes and a lead hot now i just need this last part to be finished
Just wondering: why a class 3 hitch? That hitch should be limited to 5K lbs, much less than the truck. A class 4 would have been a better choice, I think.
The turbo inter-cooler is down low, below the radiator, mounted at a forward angle. It faces the opening in the middle of the bumper.
The transmission cooler will be about half-way of the radiator with two lines connected on the left side, facing the truck.

because i'm an idiot and wasn't thinking when i told the dealership to install it as part of the deal. The class three is rated to 6,000 per the stamping on it, but with my setup the owners manual states that i can only tow somewhere around 4,400-4,500 i believe.
I'm not really disappointed as i didn't buy the truck to tow a lot, more for the extra bed space for the occasional load that i could never fit into my 4 door pontiac! I've hauled plenty of wood stretching from the trunk all the way out the passenger's side window up front. I must say it's a lot easier to just throw it in the bed and go now!
