What Have YOU Done To Your Truck Today?
#2461
Only had my '76 a few months. Since I've had it I've changed the cap plugs and wires, new MSD coil, added a small tach on the column, saddle blanket seat cover, new tires ( had bias ply front and rear, the rear were studded snow tires with worn down studs. According to the PO's maintenance log it hadn't had tires since 1984!!! Before I was born haha.) New battery, new voltage regulator, new belt, sealed driver side parking /turn signal housing, changed turn/park bulb socket
Today when I got home from work I went over the underside front to back to find things im gonna need to fix. Found two mcnugget sized holes in the floorboard in the same spot front and back. Frame and cross members are very solid. Found the parking brake cables were pretty sloppy hence the long throw in the p brake pedal. Spent 40 minutes fighting rust and wd40 getting it adjusted. So much better! Then went to tackle the reverse lights since they didn't work. Thanks to the forum I located the reverse light switch. Was assuming id have to order a new switch and replace it. To my excitement I found that the switch was extremely out of reach of the shift linkage. I adjusted the switch Bam! One reverse light came on. One new bulb later both reverse lights work!

I am not sure what I am going to do,find a Factory one intact and just live with the size.
I did put the factory bumper back on the front today and removed the home built one that was on there.

Ok really did you have to locate the old previous owner outa state (that bought the vehicle in 2003 from the original owner) that had sighed and dated the back of the title and never got it in his name. Can you say farm rig?
Then traded it for a 4 wheeler.......and that guy never got it transferred......let alone really running right, tagged ect.....farm rig again.
I track that guy down, send him $300 to cover the back state title fines, so he can get the title in his name, then have him sign it to me. Then I pay $12 for a title xfer to my name.
And all this outa state......nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs, meow.

send letter to original owner
piece of cake right
letter comes back

I'm doing something illegal
I make another call, you guessed it to icbc
property owner has to repossess vehicle and give it to me
that ain't gonna happen
me now thinking why did I have to fall in love with this piece of..........
ok cool down time
call icbc next day, I don't like the way you guys are doing things dept.
talk to fellow, first one to give contact info to me
talk to fellow again
and again
another fellow calls, I'm not home
this is Friday so have to wait all weekend to see what he has to say
call this morning, for some reason kind of nervous
he tells me he is going to let me register vehicle
I have his name and number as well
gather up my papers and off to icbc agent again
lady at icbc confused, wants to call icbc office
WHAT???????
call this guy he says it's all good
who's this guy they ask
I say I don't know but he has his own phone number so he must be important
he's not in his office
continue with paper work another nice lady knows what to do
how much did you pay for it
guy gave it to me I say
need a value, icbc needs to get something out of this
ok 50 bucks
that might not be enough, if it's not they will probably call you
whatever
paper work complete
I give them some money and Bronco is mine
I wanted to do this all legal and by the book.
The registration was in the truck. I could have easily filled them out signed the owner signature and no one would have been the wiser...................makes ya wonder don't it.

Worked on scraping some of the 40-years of caked-on oils and fluids off the frame and cross members in the engine bay. Got her ready to dolly-tow to a DIY car wash to wash the engine bay. Used a come-along to drag her up onto the dolly. (did some work to the dolly too.)
Need to figure-out how to over-haul the steering column and paint the engine bay before getting ready to drop the 360 back in.

it's not your truck until it takes something from you, usually chunks of skin. These trucks literally are covered in blood, sweat, and tears.
