1951 radiator support

Help, I could use a little information. I have a 1951 F1 with a 6-cylinder that is decent condition, but the engine is poor. I also have a 1951 F2 with the 239 flattie in it that has a decent engine. I wouldlike to put the V8 in the F1. I know the radiator is different and I know there are 2 sets of bolts in the fender supports to move the radiator support ahead or back for the 6 or V8. Is the radiator support the same for 6 & V8? If the support is moved, are there 2 mounting locations on the frame below the radiator support? Inside the fenders the arched fender supports also bolts onto the support bolts. Do those ached supports get moved as well? What else has to be changed to move radiator? Does F1 to F2 make a diiference on these parts? Thanks, Dave

You're correct, there are alot of small subtle things that need to be changed.
The radiator supports are the same, the 6cyl mounts in the holes closest to the grille, the V8 in the rearward holes. Yes the fender support brackets will with the radiator but I think they are the same. The small air deflector brackets on either side of the radiator would also move along with it.

Now for the things that aren't the same. The air deflector in the hood that sits down on top of the radiator is different. Since the 6cyl in farther forward in the hood it is narrower than the v8 deflector. Also the lower air deflector between the radiator and the lower valance is shorter on the 6cyl. The battery boxes are defferent, on the 6cyl the battery is located on the drivers side, the v8 is on the passenger side. The throttle linkages are different as well.

The F1 and the F2 should be the same for these parts

Thanks for the info! One other thing. Is there 2 spots on the frame to bolt down the support frame? Thanks, Dave

Dave,

You mean under the radiator support on the front crossmember? Yes, there are two sets of holes. I might have some pics on my other computer, I'll look this evening

Fender braces are the same, there are two sets of holes at the fender flange
