51 front end assembly questions

For those who have taken these apart that were assembled correctly

How thick is the rubber pad under the radiator support? I made a pad from 1/8" rubber, should I use 1/4"? Any shims?

What is the order of assy for the front end? This is what I have based on how my truck was.

Radiator support
inner fender wells bolted to the back, then at the radiator support they are bolted to the radiator support with the fender braces
grille assy pieces
fenders and upper valence
hood

sound correct?

Also on the passenger side, does the inner fender smaller piece at the bottom bolt on from the inside or outside of the main inner fender?

The radiator saddle insulator (pad) is more like 3/8" thick. Something with reinforcing cords in it (old tire carcass) is needed.

Thanks, I have material like that, I used it for bed crossmember pads. It is around 1/4" thick, I will shim it if needed. My truck had nothing, I didnt know it was that thick.

Funny that the parts book gives the length and width, but not the thickness.

EDIT: I just checked the one in my truck. It's definitely 5" long. I can't measure the 2" width, but it is 5/16" thick.

Thanks, I just was out in the garage and measured the reinforced rubber sheet material, it is 5/16" so it will work perfectly.

Well, if that doesn't work out, Classic Haulers sells them for $5.00. Part number 2310-4852
