fficeffice" /><O></O> Actually, the bedplate seals are a rubber/silicone composite. The front cover gasket is embedded rubber to an aluminum plate. The rear cover uses a seal also. where they connect, you had a bit of silicone sealer. Not just any sealer, but one that does not absorb diesel. I do use the permatex high tack spay on the channels for the bedplate seals. <O></O> <O></O> I'm replaced the bedplate seal on an 04, 6.9lit and I am recording for a future video. I take pictures of all the seals for it too.<O></O>
That was my typing malfunction! I admit it! 04, 6.0lit!
My floor looks like a dalmation died under teh truck. About 100 little black spots, since I don't park in exactly the same spot every time.
If they told me it was a sensor o-ring..no problem. if they told me the engine or cab needed to come off for the repair...no thanks...ill just live with it.
I had a problem with it when it was doing this when new, but the beauty is, if you wait long enough, its not a new leaking truck, but an old one.
I just got back from a 1200 mile drive to K. C. after the bedplate fi 2nd ). Good news is no more oil leak BUT now leaking tranny fluid from the top somewhere I think they may have overfilled it tranny shifts just fine but looks over on the stick like to the top of the plastic gauge.would it purge from a vent or something?
I’m a Senior Master Technician for my local Ford dealer, Diesel and Hybrid certified included. I have worked on the Powerstroke since the 6.9lit. I know these trucks inside and out. You show me a bolt; I’ll tell you where it goes. I have performed every repair possible and I can tell you every shortcut! My point is, pulling the cab is not a drastic operation. It all depends on the circumstances in which you are working and the condition of the vehicle. About the bedplate seal, if it’s back for a second time with the same repair, it was not diagnosed or repaired correctly. They might not have found the actual cause of the leak or failed on assembly. I have performed this numerous times and have never seen a short block cause a leak. If I’m going after the bedplate seal, I would remove the engine, too easy. But that all depends if they have the Rotunda lift, support brackets, etc. The equipment is what dictates the operation. I pull the cab on a 6.0 when it’s seized so I can seperate the flexplate nuts. What matters most, is that if the cab is pulled, always replace the bolts.
second this one. Was wondering how you guys pull the cab. Took some time to make that video. Thanks for showing us. reps. sent your way.
On the video the engine had the high pressure pump fail causing metal contamination through out the entire fuel system. Just about any repair from turbo to below will require the cab to be removed. The procedure is pretty simple actually. Once you remove both batteries, trays, disconnect lower and upper hoses. The master cylinder is removed leaving the hydrolic lines in tact. I will get a closer look at the cab lift with a new video coming soon. check out my newest video of the bedplate seal replacement. YouTube - Powerstroke 6.0lit Bedplate Seal Replacement HD

Looks like you're putting your new camera to good use. Cool vids.
anouther excellent video; Also enjoyed the injector removal in the econline. Very good information. I am sure it helps to build confidence for those who want to attempt this themselves...Thanks for sharing...
SrMasterTech, I don't know where you are, but is there any chance you could be convinced to move to Missouri?
Hey Hi-jacker,
I currently live right next door in Oklahoma. I don't have plans of moving for a few years yet. Although, I'll be heading west to Nevada.
