Transmission issues

Just drove from Austin to north of Ft. Worth, TX. It started snowing on me just south of Waco and I switched to 4 Hi and went for 150+ miles. Made it home, hung out with the wife and kids and then decided to go for a drive and see how much snow we had around. Drove for probably 2.5 hours in 4 Hi and came back to the house. In the driveway, tried to put the truck in Park and the shifter will not go past Neutral so I can not get to reverse or park and can not get the key out. what in the world could I have done. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't know if there is any linkage on our torqshifts, but if something like this happened to my 1989 F250 I would suspect a snow & ice buildup underneath.

Its probably the linkage to the brake pedal since the brake needs to be applied to put it in park.

No, the brake does not need to be applied to put it in park.

This problem is almost always a buildup of ice around the shifter linkage on the driver's side of the transmission.

Thank you for catching that Mark, I was wrong, its only required to take it OUT of park
