1965-55 trucks had FENDER badges...61-64 trucks had HOOD side badges...the inserts were sold as an assembly with the chrome bezel. The style seen on the OP truck is the 61-64 type bezel. The insert 'Four Wheel Drive' is used on 1966 F100...C6TZ16720A ..same left and right...
1965 F100 4X4 used a C5TZ16720F same left and right..fender nameplates
1965 F100 Twin I Beam, Ranger and Camper Special ALL are C5TZ p/n
There is a 1963-6 HOOD side according to my 1968 paper book...but Ive NEVER seen a HOOD side nameplate on a 65 or 66 F100...its p/n is a C3TZ BTW...
So the badges ARE correct for this truck.
On a sidenote, 1961 and 1962 trucks hood side emblems are long heavy cast parts about 2 feet long with the truck model cast into them and unique to each side.

CS65,
I don't know why I was thinking the badge should be on the cowl section, DOH!,,,(I think the only thing that was ever on the short cowl section was the short aluminum section as part of the full-length side molding option). I think I was thinking that the badge should have been on the HOOD, which is where a '61-'64 badge would be located.
So, if I'm following you correctly, on the OP '65 F100 4x4, the PLACEMENT of the fender badge and the F100 red insert is correct, but the bezel / badge STYLE is wrong as it's a '61-'64 badge,,,, correct?
I didn't know that the FOUR WHEEL DRIVE insert was only used in '66. I seem to recall that the '66 bezel was slightly different from the '65 bezel,,,, correct?
Interesting........

65 and 66 bezels are different...65 has F-O-R-D- and model on top of bezel, 66 has F-O-R-D on top and model on bottom cast into it whereas 65 had raised characters on top..
The bezels are indeed the 63-4 style, but I know these were also used on early 65 Camper Special trucks...I think these bezels would be the earlier look but later p/n as I mentioned prior...the only sure way to tell is to pop them off and look at the casting number on them. They simply pop into barrel nuts which bite into the studs as its pushed in. As putty knife or flathead screwdriver can easily pop them off...studs are at either end and bottom center.
