Is that a Dana 24 transfer case? The 1.24/1 underdrive is the best in the mud, you can maintain 100 mph wheelspin with the right gear and tire. SWEET RIDE!!!!!!! Have a blast.
so i can just put headers on it and it wont be a problem?
i forget but on one of the sides you need to put a dent in one of the pipes so it clears the oil pan but other than that, yeah... i believe we bought ours from flowtech or someone with a name sorta like that
Thanks for the additional pics...all the decals...save them...esp. Johnny Harper Ford... I went to my trucks original selling state(oregon) and was able to get the original application for title with all the bank lender info and dealer info...The dealer itself under that name is gone...but his son is a huge name in the area...The dealer was sold or bought or whatnot by another, changed names and so on...
Check the local old time F-L-M dealers as they would most likely know the scenario on the dealer..name change or whatnot...If you know dead nuts positive which state the truck was sold brand new in get ahold of their DMV and do a request for original application for title...you would prolly need to prove you own the truck, provide VIN obviosly and mention its strictly for historical pourposes for the truck as its a collector vehicle...worked for me...and I got fast turn around...it was a copy off of a microfiche...easily readable too...
As for the tailgate lettering..I would leave it be for now...maybe spray some clear over it to prevent any further deteriorating...
production figures...I dont have specifics for 65 either...BUT based on other year 4WD trucks in F100 livery...its low...2,922 F100 4WD in 64...styleside that is...same bed as yours...1966 4WD F100 styleside...4493...
prices...I dont have a breakdown book...working on acquiring one of them...I, obviously would be after the 65 one...
All Im able to tell you is 4WD cost an additional 696 clams...remember...thats 1965 dollars...when you could get a nice house for 15-20K...Bill can shed more light on the dollar equivelent of then vs now...Its not at all a bad thing...to me its a good thing...its a lot of money though for the 4WD option...I will look around though for the price info...Ive been curious as heck too for some time...
As for the fenders...keep them...get a good old school body man...not too hard of a fix.
And again dumb.... Bump, please let ke know what your thinkin
kill the rust, save the patena (if you want a new truck go buy one), restore the drive train to original condition and drive it. count how many similar trucks you see when you drive it around. i bet you won't need both hands for the counting thing.
