What kind of work do you do, and where on the north shore are you working now? I've hung a lot of sheetrock up there over the years, maybe we've ran into each other.

I do new home construction and remodels. We use Craig Brown for drywall so if you work for him then we've met.
I talked to the foreman that was going to hire me for that Texas job. He said that the permits havn't gone through yet, and he wasn't going to work there because they weren't going to pay him enough per-diem. (like 3 grand a week isn't enough money). So that jobs out of the question. He said that they'll be busier then hell come april, it looks like I'll be home for longer then I thought. So I signed up for unemployment yesterday, and because I was self employed before I started piplining in Sept. There giving me the minimum. It might be enough to cover the bills, but barely. Better then nothing I guess.
So, today I'm going to rewire my headlights and install a new dimmer switch. The old one is stuck on bright, and it's so dim that it doesn't bother anybody at night. It would be nice to see where I'm going.
Then I might do some much needed work on my tractor. It's boiling over. I have it narrowed down to bad radiator, bad water pump, or it needs a new head gasket. There are a few hydrolic leaks, and some power steering leaks that need to be addressed also. It would be nice to get that ready so the wife or I don't have to worry about it next summer, when we need it the most.
Then I have an 01 f-150 4.6 with 280,000 miles on it. She started running really rough, and I had a big loss of power. The code light is on, but I don't have the tool to plug it in. I payed the neighbor guy $50 last summer to tell me that some of the valves are burnt. For some reason I don't believe him, but it does have a lot of miles on it. I was thinking about testing the compression and find out which cylinders are bad. Maybe I'll rent a reader and see what the codes tell me. And go from there. My neighbor quoted me an awfully high price to fix it. He said that it's damn near easier rebuilding the whole engine. I was thinking if I had to pull the head, and take it to someone to do a valve job, I could save some money. But I don't know to much about these newer vehicles. Plus it needs a rear sliding window, new side mirrors, new window door switch, body work, and numerous other things. I could probably put 2 grand into it to get everything right. It's still a good truck, I just let some things go on it. She's in some rough shape.
I've got plenty to do, without enough money to do it. Maybe I can justify it by turning around and selling the truck for 3 grand after I fix it. But with that many miles on it, who would want it? Who knows, all we can do is live until we die.

All the work that I did on the north shore was for Complete Drywall out of Moose Lake, Bob is his name. I subbed out the sheetrock under him. We worked from the Larsmont cottages, all the way to the Luteson ski lodge. That Luteson one was last spring, after they had a fire that destroyed 3 units last fall. The last job I hung was surfside, up near Toffte. We finished that around the first of Sept. I don't miss that place.
