Does anyone know where I could locate a set of Try-Y headers, for my 1980 F-150 4x4 400M??? I've tryed all the most popular companys, and had no luck. I'm looking for the Try-Y design for their low-end torque producing characteristics. Any ideas of places to try?
Thanks!
After a quick glance at the latest Jegs cataloge, on page 57-U, I found a slip on collector that'll turn a standard header into a tri-y. Cost about $100 bucks.
Chubby, as I understand it, Tri-Y headers are known for their low end torque building Characteristics, due to there inherent "scavaging" effect. They go from 4 into 2 then 2 into 1. If you can picture that sequence, it actually creates 3 Y's. Hence "Tri-Y" Hope that helps!
Hi all, new to the forum. I got my tri-y from stans headers www.stans-headers.com . The are a good fit. I opted out of the crome in lue of hpc coatings. Lets not even get me started on that. Hope this helps
Good call 73. I was going to suggest Stans also. He does EXCELLENT work, probably some of the highest quality headers on the market. I'm just hoping that Steve found those headers after 5 years.
lol,I did not even look at the date. That was the first time I found the site. It looks to be a great site. I take it it starts at 1 and the older the number the older the date. No problem man, just had to give you a hard time about it. FTE is a great site with all the resources you could ask for to help get these old trucks into shape. If you get a chance join the Kansas chapter here too. They're good guys and can help you out locally if you need.
