Pete, I doubt any of us could ever reasonably expect to recover the investment in our vehicles, especially as a business decision.
I do it for Pride of Ownership.
Its my Land-Yacht, right now its laid up in a dry dock of sorts, certainly High and Dry sitting up there on the lift.
At least I get to pleasure-cruise 60 miles each day along the same length of interstate highway. Those with pleasure boats moored at a marina likely cruise about a similar distance but along their local coastline and just less frequently.
This rental car costs me less than $40.00 a week to fill up, whereas my van would be around $80.00, so I chalk up the difference to money I would otherwise pour into a boat.
I suppose some put aside cruising money all year long just to have a sort of Christmas Club to fuel their boats with during the boating (holiday) season, I just put it into my tank every week.
