Overhead Compass and Temp Quit Working

I know you posted this some time ago but what did you do to correct the temperature problem? I am experiencing the same issue mine always displays as 140 degrees

Just fixed mine in about 30 minutes.... with shaky hands and a full size soldering iron. I used a metal pick to guide the solder. Ugly but effective. It was one of the wafers numbered 510. I didn't see any broken joints so I checked for loose pieces and lifted up that wafer. Once I resoldered the wafer to the board, I put it back together, found one extra part so I dismantled and put it back together again.... and it's like 1999 all over again.... now I know where I'm going.

Getting just the display could be tough if not impossible. You can however get the whole module used off eBay or here: Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market

Hey everyone, I was reading this thread since my comp/mpg/temp readout stopped working. I took off the console cover (I started pulling on the end pointing towards rear of truck) and it came out with a little force but no broken tabs. The first thing I did was disconnect then reconnect the plug on the side of the readout a couple of times, turned my truck on and it started working again. Hopefully it's that's easy for some of you!

Stuck, and can't get the circuit board separated from the mode e/m housing
I just went outside and removed the unit from the vehicle. Mine is compass and temperature only. The first pic shows a wafer of sorts that is out of place (follow the toothpick). Is this a resistor?
The second pic shows where I slid the wafer back to where it should be.
Upon initial examination, the circuit board looked good. A closer look revealed that a wafer labeled "510" had one corner kind of raised or sticking up. I pressed down on the raised corner ever so lightly and the wafer moved off of its bed. It had indeed come unsoldered. How would I go about soldering this back? I may just take it to a local electronics store that has been around for 60 years.
