Does anyone know if a pre 1973 stepside bed fill bolt onto a 73-79 Ford? Reason I am asking is I found a 8' stepside Ford bed, but its from a early 70's truck. It does not have a provisions in the bed for a fuel filler neck.
Would it bolt to my frame though? I have a '75 F150. 2wd.
After doing some research, the 8' stepside bed I am looking at is from a 1972 or earlier truck. The top of the bed sides angle in toward the bed, where as the 73-79 are flat on top.
Can anyone with a 73-79 style stepside measure the width of their bed and the depth? I just want to verify if the pre 73 bed will fit on my truck.
The depth from the floor up to the bend on the top rail is 19 3/8". The width of the top rail is 4 3/4" from bend to outside of the roll. The width from bend to bend measured across the front of the bed is 53 7/8".
I had a 78 long bed and am putting on a 71 longbed in my restore. I couldn't find a longbed of the proper year that wasn't totally rusted out, so I decided to go with a 71 I found inTX.
